The Aljezur Sweet Potato Fair

Once a year the road to Aljezur is choc-a-bloc with motorists homing in on the local equivalent of harvest festival. Forget the main meals with boring boiled sweet potatoes added to a stew, and go for the various sweets made by the local ladies. Sweet potato and orange, sweet potato and almond, and so on. They are delicious.

The weather was fine, and we all had a splendid time. But click the pic of the jonquils below to be taken to a brief video, which shows you a few of the stalls.

As you can see, spring has arrived in the Algarve. I picked these jonquils and roses yesterday (December 4).
